Acquired in 1988, ✮THE GRAND BARN✮ has become the utmost vacationed destination for those sharing the scope of worldwide friendship and open-mindedness. In their 20th year of operation and that is thanks to the accrued support of our T.W.A.N./TGB Members and loyal visitors throughout those past years. They have been/are publicized in many publications and guides, from all over the globe and many have responded to the call for great common sense that is so predominant at TGB. THE GRAND BARN offers many themes and activities of interest to its fine visitors. TGB can now be open all year long for their most supportive visitors/members even when it gets colder. Winter activities can be made available. Winter trails can be open for cross-country skiing, snowmobile, snow shoeing. The front office could be made available for warming up and buying yourself some fast food and warm drinks (coffee, hot chocolate). Maple time should also be an opportunity to enjoy maple products produced at TGB.
In summer, for those seeking a picturesque location where to find oneself in an environment to be at one with Nature, optionally Nude & Free to enjoy the full feeling of being away from daily routines and a place to escape the stressing stuffy feeling of city life, THE GRAND BARN is your destination. TGB is a private select club/resort of 250 acres of freedom. Located right by the Trans-Canada Hwy 417, between Ottawa and Montreal, and at an equal distance from Cornwall, its location can be easily found for those that want to experience the feeling of complete relaxation in a domain that has kept its very raw natural aspect and has maximized on the quality of its more tolerant laid-back visiting crowd.
They are at exit 17, on Barb Road, north side of the 417, and approximately 1 mile from the exit. No gravel roads for endless time. They're right there, easy to find. You can even see THE GRAND BARN from the 417, if you turn your head on the left/north side when approaching the exit 17, coming from Ottawa. That's how close they are from the 417. Once you see the civic address 3440 of TGB-Inn, keep on Barb Road to the main entrance of THE GRAND BARN and present yourselves at the front office.
You certainly can come unannounced, but they recommend that, as much as possible, to let them know, in advance, of your plans to come and visit so that they can better prepare for your enjoyable stay at TGB.
The recreational area is adjacent to the back of TGB and that's where you'll find their circular pool, hot tub and their big enclosure in where to take the sun, partially protected from the wind, either on the grass or on our cement slab with tables, chairs and lounge-chairs being provided. Their big camping area offers over 140 sites/lots of 20' X 20' (some serviced with el./water) with plenty of place to circulate and fully enjoy any outdoors activities, games, sports.
Nudity is fully encouraged, not forced upon, as it pertains to the element of freedom they so strongly promote. It gives to the newcomers a better sense of adaptability and encouraging comfort so that they can pace themselves to the obvious freedom that prevails at TGB. You won't be categorized, either, upon being Nude and they will not simplistically present themselves as a mere "Nudist/Naturist Club".
The biggest of its kind,✮THE GRAND BARN✮ takes its name from the gigantic 220' ft long structure with its 2 towering silos. TGB presents 2 operational floors to accommodate all types of scheduled events, along with complete food service and recreational activities. With TGB and its spacious front parking, lies their 250 acres of fields, meadows and forest.
They also serve full course meals. With their acquired fully equipped restaurant (Bus 'N Grill), their diversity of food is appreciated by members and at a reasonable price. Their cook(s) will be happy to prepare meals tailored to your taste, and the usual fast food menu is also made available.
Their forest, The Back~40, contains many serpentine trails that will lead you to some of their extraordinary centennial trees, uniquely named, worth taking beautiful pictures standing by them and with unprecedented majesty. Discover and experience walking through acre upon acre of unhindered nature, it truly is nature's own anti-depressant.
Desire Lake has become the favorite spot for all visitors of any age. It is a 10 minute walk from TGB and is also fully accessible by car for those less inclined to exercise. Its 400' ft X 300' ft perimeter of striking natural landscape makes it one main attraction for all to spend hours just hanging around or swimming, boating or plain sunbathing. Alongside its surrounding road, lots are available for camping purpose.
