I am the publisher of this website.

I wrote The Politics of Lust and four other books, two on environmental law, one on wilderness travel and one on rural living. I have written for a dozen Canadian and American newspapers and magazines.

For the past thirty years I have been professionally involved in sexuality, as a lawyer, writer, activist and educator.

As a lawyer I have worked extensively in the field of sexual human rights and currently represent the Canadian Polyamory Advocacy Association in the BC Supreme Court reference involving the polygamy prohibition in the Canadian Criminal Code. I co-own and present seminars at the sex education centre and erotic boutique The Art of Loving. I am the leader of The Sex Party, the world's first registered sex positive political party. I co-founded an organization that facilitates the organization of mens' groups.

Genitals, the Bible, and you

Are you a fig-leafer? Do you consider your genitals “privates” to be seen by nobody except your self, your doctor and maybe your lover? Are you frightened by the thought of hanging out at a nude beach?

If so, you have a lot of company. The vast majority of Canadians are uncomfortable almost anywhere in the nude.

This fear of normal and natural body parts is no trivial condition. A good deal of the most important text ever written in the Western World deals with this bizarre discomfort with the self.

Sex and Islamic Suicide Terrorists

He is a pious man. A believer.

He puts on a pack. Walks into a crowd. And detonates an explosion that will blow him and many innocent bystanders to bits

An Islamic suicide terrorist.

Sex-negativity is an important part of the system that creates him. But in the studies of terrorists you will find very little about their attitudes to erotic pleasure.

So here is the idea.

Islamic terrorists are almost 100% of an age (16-34) when testosterone levels are their highest in the male lifespan.

Should group marriage be allowed?

Should group marriage be allowed?

I am counsel for the Canadian Polyamory Advocacy Association and we just filed our affidavits in the court case in BC considering the constitutionality of the law that prohibits group marriage.

The law was enacted almost 120 years ago – before women had the vote. It was aimed at Mormon sects and aboriginals who engaged in polygyny: where men take several wives.

Sexless Soldiers

The Canadian military community is all abuzz with the news that Canada’s top commander in Afghanistan has been pulled from his duties for…..allegedly having sex.

Canadian military law provides that while on a tour of duty Canadian soldiers are prohibited from having sex, even if they are with their spouse. Canadians typically serve six month tours in Afghanistan.

That means six months without any sexual contact.

Sex 2.0 Seattle conference

Back from the Sex 2.0 conference in Seattle.  The annual gathering  is for sex-positive writers and others and has been held in several cities in the U.S. over the past few years.

The event show-cased much of the sex positive community in Seattle.  That city ranks only after San Francisco as having the most sex-positive resources in the world.

The event was sponsored by the Foundation that runs the Sex Positive Community Center, known as the Wet Spot.  No other single organization that I know of has such an array of sex positive events; there's at least one almost every day. It also sponsors the Seattle Erotic Art Festival, one of the planet’s most important erotic art events.
