Home-Made Rope Flogger for $3.99
I spent some time on the Fusion Knot site again this evening. I decided to test the directions for the rope flogger and try my hand at making one.
The directions recommend using 1/4 inch rope. Since this was a test project, I decided to use a 50 foot length of 1/8 inch nylon rope I had on hand. I picked the rope up at the local Princess Auto for $3.99. I think it would have turned out better with the heavier rope. Nevertheless, I was pleased with the outcome (see picture).
I watched the YouTube video straight through several times and then played back a couple of sections as I reached that particular stage of the project. I didn't have enough rope to make the same kind of handle, so I improvised with the bits I had left once I'd measured off the lengths. The nylon rope was a little harder to work with than a natural fibre likely would have been, but with a little patience I was able to get the braiding nice and tight. Since my rope was narrower, I didn't make the handle quite as long as the directions recommended either. I finished by knotting the ends of the falls to give them a little bite.
I think I'll get some 1/4 inch rope and try again soon. I'll let you know how it works out. You can find Fusion Knots at http://fusionknots.com
Update: Tried this out last night and was extremely pleased. This is a great little flogger for the money. Has a nice little bite to it and provoked a wonderful endorphin ride. :D
